May 25, 2008 - Team Autoxrs Headquarters

After a weekend off the team returned to racing at the Steel Cities Region double autox held at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex. Bright and sunny skies coupled with weather in the 70s provided the perfect backdrop for a battle between the teammates. After a miserable rained out autox two weekends back the team was looking forward to putting the tires and car to use in the dry.

At the end of the weekend Roy Wendell prevailed over team owner Sean Banerjee by 0.7 seconds enroute to a double class win. Rounding out the podium in third place was Ron Lawson in the classic first gen Toyota MR2.

On Sunday, Roy would be first car out and quickly set the slate with a clean 38.8 second run. Sean's first was a hair faster but also at a 38.8 range. Roy's second run would be 3/10th faster as he dropped to the 38.6 range, Sean quickly responded with a 38.4 second run to hold a narrow advantage. The final run for the morning for Roy was a blistering 37.7 second run but marred by a cone call, at the end of the first session Sean held a 0.2 second advantage. In the afternoon Sean would take the first run, on cold tires he managed a high 38 second run and failed to improve on the morning times. Roy's first run for the afternoon was marred by a slide and only resulted in a low 39 second time. Sean's second run for the afternoon while clean was still no faster and another mid 38 second run. On his second run Roy managed to replicate his morning 37.7 run to take over the lead in STS2. Sean's final run was looking to be a 37 second run until a huge slide at the finish resulted in a off course, Roy's final run was clean but did not improve on the his personal best time as he took the win in STS2.

The team will take a weekend off next weekend as car owner Sean will travel to Summit Point to serve as crew chief for defending MARRS ITS Champion Jon Kofod. The next event for the team will be the June Sprints at Cumberland Airport with the National Road Rally Region. Unfortunately, co-driver Roy will be traveling west for 2 months for work and will be unable to compete in the event.
